Gynaecology and baby care in Syria and its border countries is currently a massively under resourced and overlooked area of essential care, resulting in women suffering greatly in pregnancy, child birth and from sexual trauma.
Many Syrian women have reported suffering from severe pelvic pain, reproductive tract infections, and menstrual irregularity. Adverse birth outcomes are a major concern including preterm delivery, low birth weights and infant mortality. There have been reports of ISIS closing down womens clinics in conflict zones leaving a major crisis and lack of essential care available for women. These are the physical symptoms which run alongside the affects of stress many women are suffering from having lived and witnessed the horrors of war.
The wedding dress project is being set up by Rebecca as a way to raise much needed funds to help Syrian women by funding gynaecology and baby care projects. A bridal outlet shop is being set up where donated dresses will be sold with all proceeds going to help these essential projects. We need wedding dresses of all shapes and sizes to make the project work and are asking for women to donate their dresses to help other women. Nice Mums can provide a UK postal address for dresses to be sent to so if you have a dress you would like to donate or if you are a wedding dress supplier that can help in any way then all you need to do is email firstname.lastname@example.org with any pictures or information you have on the dress such as size, brand, price paid for it etc and we will send you details of where to post it to. We know its a big ask to get you to part with something often so sentimental but by doing so you could help change the life of another woman or baby so please get onboard, tell your friends and donate your dresses.
