Pregnancy is an amazing adventure & one you should never have to experience on your own. Any woman who has been pregnant will know that hormones & emotions are often all over the place which is why having other mums (or soon to be mums) to talk to is so important & the best preparation for parenthood. As it is also such a life changing time the friends you make through late pregnancy & early motherhood will often be life-long. If Nice Mums could offer one piece of advice to all soon to be or new mum’s it would be to use your pregnancy to make new local friendships so you can build up a great support system (needed on those tough days) & then of course your children will have instant playmates. Over the next few months I would like to set up local get-togethers for expecting & new mums so we can build a strong, supportive environment which is friendly & welcoming for all to join. The socials don’t have to always be over coffee & cake, I am thinking new born swimming groups, picnic dates, keep fit buggy classes & indoor/outdoor play just to name a few. I am also completely open to any ideas. Are you due in 2015? We are currently looking to find mums who are expecting in 2015 across South Devon. Meeting other soon to be mums due around the same time is a great way to share experiences, worries and advice. The aim is to meet on a regular basis (most probably fortnightly) for a variety of social activities taking you through your entire maternity leave. The Nice Mums NEW Online Forum I know from personal experience that moving to a new town & having to make friends all over again can be extremely daunting. However having something as great as pregnancy in common does make it easier. The NEW Nice Mum’s online Forum is a great place for pregnant mums to get to know each other before nervously meeting face to face. The forum allows you to start your own topics or join in other conversations so you can get the information, support or advice you are looking for. It is very friendly and welcoming & monitored by Nice Mum’s staff. You can start by reading what everyone else is up to & join in when you are ready. Best of all, you can do it from your sofa sat in your PJ’s! TIP: If you post a message, don't forget to say when your baby is due or how old your child/children are, & what your local area is.
