People pair up with their partner for all sorts of reasons - and one of the biggest is finances. A nationwide Experian survey of couples in relationships* asked if financial responsibility would make someone more attractive, 29% said it would, while 35% of women said this would make a male 'much more attractive'.

After careful consideration we have decided to end our current affiliations with Amazon. This means we will be closing our online shop within the next 48 hours and removing all Amazon advertising.
Nice Mums have always worked hard to be an ethical group and as such we can no longer support Amazon while they continue to profit from the cruel and barbaric trade that is the fur trade. We have contacted Amazon on a number of occasions to express our concerns but as they continue to sell these products made from animals and promote the fur trade we cannot continue to work with or support them in this.
We know a number of you use our online shop on a regular basis and will be inconvenienced and disappointed by the closure of our shop, however we hope you understand that it is essential for us to put ethics before profit and keep our integrity intact.
We will be working on opening a new and exciting online marketplace on www.nicemums.com to take the place of the shop so please keep your eyes out for updates.
It is with great regret that I have to announce we will no longer be able to collect baby wipes packets for recycling.
We have just received an email telling us that the recycling company have lost their sponsor, Johnsons, and as a result cannot continue with recycling wipes packets.
The collection officially ends on 31st December, however after 1st December no more shipping labels will be sent out, meaning all recycling MUST be dropped to collection points by 30th November in order for it to be sent off and counted.
The good news is we can still recycle biscuit wrappers, baby food pouches, mobile phones, laptops and coffee packaging so please keep collecting!
To date we have saved 6251 baby wipe packets from landfill which is a fantastic effort so thank you to all who contributed and huge thanks to our collection points who made it possible.
Please share this with your friends.
We recently posted looking for Nice Mums wanting to bravely jump out of a plane in aid of TBVAC, the Devon badger vaccination group. Some fabulous mums responded and we now have the Devon Flying Badger Squad, made up of 7 individuals, 5 of whom are members of Nice Mums.
The squads aim is to raise enough to buy the cage traps needed to get TBVAC out to Devons farms and countryside to protect the badgers from bovine TB and reduce the chance of a badger cull in Devon in 2015.
The squad is now looking for people willing to sponsor them for the skydive. To do so please go to www.gofundme.com/flyingbadger and remember every penny helps so give as little or as much as you can, it will all be very much appreciated, both by the squad and Devons badgers!
On Saturday 13th December we will be celebrating Nice Mums 2nd birthday with a big family party at The Grosvenor Hotel in Torquay, 12-3pm, everyone welcome!
Have you ever fancied the thought of jumping out of a plane? Nows your chance to have this once in a lifetime experience by joining the Nice Mums team as we leap from the skies to help raise much needed funds for TBVAC - Devon's badger vaccination team (see previous blog).
We are looking for as many people as possible to join our team. Each person must raise a minimum of £300 sponsorship, which is enough to pay for the skydive and purchase a much needed badger cage.
If you'd like to sign to to join us as we jump late March / Early April (date tbc) then simply email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you sponsor forms and details on how to get started.
This years Nice Mums 2nd Birthday Party Extravaganza, being held on Saturday 13th December at The Grosvenor Hotel in Torquay will be supporting a fantastic local cause and helping them to raise both funds and awareness of their work. If you love animals you will love TBVAC and the work that they do! Read on to find out more.
TBVAC: Who We Are and What We Do:
TBVAC are a group of volunteers, from a wide variety of backgrounds, committed to vaccinating as many badgers as possible in Devon against bovine TB. Many members of TBVAC have seen at first hand what a badger cull zone is like, and how serious the social division is in badger cull zones, that we don’t want to see this happening to communities and to wildlife in Devon.
The vaccine used to protect badgers from bovine TB is very effective, even more effective in badgers than it is at protecting humans from TB. Badger vaccination is a cheap and painless alternative to a badger cull. This short video, filmed at Killerton Estate in Devon, shows how quick and simple vaccinating badgers is. This vaccination programme is using government staff and is therefore more expensive than using volunteer vaccinators, but both are still far cheaper than hosting a badger cull, with no harm to the badgers, the local community or to the tourism industry.
Next year TBVAC will be able to vaccinate badgers anywhere in Devon for just £30 per badger, (just the cost of the vaccine), using this same technique.
Nice Mums can help support TBVAC in a number of ways.
TBVAC are presently fundraising for the equipment needed to vaccinate badgers in Devon, much of which, like the cage traps, can be used for years and can be used to vaccinate hundreds or thousands of badgers. Cage traps cost £150 each and 20 are needed to vaccinate all the badgers on an average sized farm.
We would also like to train up more volunteer vaccinators, to cover more of Devon. This year the training costs per vaccinator were £375 each. We have nearly a dozen volunteer vaccinators already trained but we could do with many more; Devon is a big county.
A donation of even £10 could buy us syringes and needles, those smaller items can soon add up, so we welcome donations large and small.
To donate directly to TBVAC please go to http://www.gofundme.com/2ygbtg
Alternatively you can buy them a christmas gift from their wishlist of essential equipment, available to buy from less than £3 here:
You can also help by spreading the word about TBVAC and telling any landowners in Devon who may have badger setts on their land about TBVAC's work and encourage them to have their badgers vaccinated.
There will be collection tins available to donate to TBVAC at the Nice Mums party and we will also be holding a raffle with some great prizes available with proceeds going directly to TBVAC. There will also be gift certificates available to purchase on the day which make a fantastically unique Christmas gift!

Tucked away in a Torquay side street, just off the main drag of Union Street is Green Leaf Cafe. The cafe had been recommended to me by a few people so mid shopping trip seemed the first time to pop in and try it out.
There is an outdoor seating area leading to the cafe which has 4 or 5 tables downstairs and more upstairs. I found a nice table downstairs located next to a selection of children's books which was a lovely touch. I then noticed a sign stating it was cash only so the waitress let me leave our things at the table while we nipped over the road to a cash point.
The menu had a great selection of breakfast options, sandwiches, wraps and light bites, with a seperate 'Little Leaves' menu for children.
I ordered a soya latte, hummus & squash wrap, and a child's sausage, chips and beans and apple juice which all came to less than £10.
The child's portion was the perfect size and my son made no complaints as he polished it off. Mine was lovely too.
Despite having limited space the cafe has been filled with charm, with a rustic finish and friendly touches such as the books.
I spotted one highchair available. There is a single toilet which does not have changing facilities however public facilities are very close by so don't let this put you off visiting.
Staff were very friendly, especially to my son who was in an extremely chatty mood (by chatty I mean loud!).
All in all we had a great visit and I'm really pleased to have found such a lovely independent place to get my coffee in Torquay, something I've been searching for for some time!
We will definitely he visiting again.
