Having been recommended by a number of people and also wanting to benefit from the 10% off food orders that my Nice Mum Card gets, today I took my son for an early lunch at The Pond.
Situated just a short walk from the train station, shops and amenities The Pond is a spacious coffee shop occupying two floors and benefitting from outdoor tables too.
We were served by a very friendly lady who was extremely patient when my son kept trying to make a bid for freedom and run outside, with me chasing him and her left waiting for the rest of our order. We ordered a children's scrambled egg & toast, hummous bagel & salad and a soya latte which totalled less than £10 and then went upstairs to find their play area.
Upstairs is a fabulous family friendly area complete with stair gate perfect for scuppering further escape attempts from my overtired toddler, and a lovely play area which includes play house, and a wide range of toys. My son had a great time playing while I had a lovely peaceful coffee, perfect!
There were Antilop high chairs available and I noticed a poster on the wall advertising what I think is a great idea, a phone number you can text your order down to so that you don't have to worry about taking your children all the way back down to order, brilliant!
Food arrived and was great.
My bagel was perfect and my sons was the perfect quantity for his 2 year old tummy.
Having chatted to staff I found out they have a wide range of food available that's not on the menu yet that's suitable for vegetarians and vegans so if you have special dietary requirements do ask.
The Pond also collect all of their coffee packaging and biscuit wrappers for the Nice Mums Recycling Collection so it's great to support a local business who cares about it's environmental impact.
All in all we had a lovely visit and will definitely be going back again. The visit was totally stress free and I can't wait to try out more of their menu.
Nice Mum Stars ***** 5/5
Today we cashed our recycling points for the year to date, a fantastic £240 will be heading over to Torbay Holiday Helpers Network thanks to everyone who has collected their baby wipe packets, biscuit wrappers, coffee packaging, mobiles and laptops for us. You've helped divert all of this from landfill and turn it into cash for charity.
To date we have recycled:
2402 baby food pouches
6251 baby wipe packets
4593 biscuit wrappers
1512 mobile phones
361 coffee packets
Please keep recycling so we can have an even bigger cheque for our charities next time around.
A lovely little boy in my 5 year olds class is fighting his way through Leukaemia, and it has really opened my eyes to the horror that is childhood cancer. Seeing the familys journey through the last few years has made me have a completely different perspective on life.
And so, I have rather long hair and I have decided to give it the chop and give it away to a charity specifically dedicated to making wigs for children who lost their hair from cancer treatment.
The minimum hair donation to start to makes a childs wig is 7 inches.
I have chosen The Little Princess Trust and I have decided to cut off at least 14 inches of hair and I am looking for sponsors pleeeeease.
I am splitting the sponsorship money 50/50 between CLIC Sargent (CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families) and The Little Princess Trust (They provide real-hair wigs, free of charge, to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment).
I know times are tough and that Christmas is approaching but any donations no matter how small would be hugely welcome.
Please please sponsor me. I have set up a page for sponsorship -
The chop will be on November 30th and if anyone else has some extra hair they would like to donate you are more than welcome to join me...
