Some of you might know that myself my partner and Aiden all live with my parents, along with 2 dogs and a cat. Were all squished into a 3 bed house.
We did rent our own house up until 2012 as the crippling cost of it all got to much. Rent, council tax, bills, car insurance, petrol, every day living was a nightmare. There were some weeks where me & Paul has to make do with plain pasta for tea & give aiden the nutritious stuff as we simply couldn't afford to live.
I finally came clean to my parents about what was happening and without a shadow of hesitation they simply said right well you'll all have to move in here!
We thought long and hard about it as no one really wants to move back in with their parents but we had no other option, we couldnt afford to rent nor get a mortgage so that was the only logical solution.
We pay our way by splitting everything 50/50 so the financial side is taken care of but living with your parents has its downsides especially with a toddler in tow!
It wasn't so bad when aiden was smaller but now hes just coming out of the terrible 2's and now into a complete different stage which im yet to name some things can irritate me!
Not having our own space, Aidens bedroom is miniscule as hes got the box room. Having a bathroom routine in the morning. its just the little things that get to me but at the end of the day it's all about compromise and we've all had to do it (apart from the dogs as they haven't compromised anything they still hog all the sofas)
I am extremely grateful to my parents for what they done for us and obviosuly coming home has uprooted them as well but we all get on so well and all pitch in with what needs to be done.
We'll never have a proper home to call our own but for now this is our home!!!
I don't know about you but keeping track on time and dates is extremely difficult for me! Most if not all mums I suspect have the same problem!
I promised you an update on my personal journey and I apologise for its lateness. Its been a busy few weeks. Preparing my staff and store for my week off was stressful! Then my week off consisted of my parents arriving on the Tuesday morning and they stayed until the Friday evening so I literally have had no time!
So big question how am I doing? Quite honestly? Great! I will be honest and tell you the week of my parents visit was also my daughters 4th birthday. The week passed with me doing no workouts and eating lots of cake! Did I feel guilty? No, did I beat myself up? No! Was I angry with myself? Well actually no! You see my relationship with food has changed. I stayed on plan for meals but I over indulged on snacks. No big deal I ate them, enjoyed them and moved on. As I have said before its a lifestyle choice not a diet I don't get punished for having treats!
The following week workouts and my routine kicked back in, although cake was still in my fridge so again it has been eaten. Meals stayed on plan and I worked hard in my workouts. I have attached pictures for you to see progress over 5 weeks. My weight hasn't changed yet my body continues to change in a positive way.
I am also looking at taking my journey forward as mentioned in my previous blog I have been looking in depth at gluten free. I assessed products available at my local supermarkets which are few and most are full of other chemicals to replace the gluten so it misses the point entirely! I looked everywhere for basic ingredients so I could make my own and local availability is shocking! The Internet I discovered is the best place for all my ingredient needs. In this day in age with allergies surrounding us I am shocked at the lack of availability of products its both annoying and frustrating, I really feel for those who don't have a choice the work that goes into their shopping must be immense. So in short to go gluten free is not at all easy but I am determined I will be 100% free by the end of this month!
I am signing off for now and I will share my journey again very soon :-)
